Nasser Al-Attiyah and his lady co-driver Tina Thorner dominated the weekend's sport, winning practically all the 25th anniversary Baja Espana's stages .
"It was a perfect run for us. We had already claimed stage wins with the All-Terrain in muddy conditions during the Rali Transiberico, but it is even more competitive in the dry. I especially appreciated its predictability and performance under braking," said Al-Attiyah who tops the standings in the International Cup for Cross-Country Bajas following his earlier successes in Saudi Arabia and Italy.
Despite Nani Roma's second place, it turned out to be a difficult event for the works Mitsubishi squad which won the Spanish event in 2007. Hiroshi Masuoka's diesel -powered Pajero was consumed by flames after another car which had gone off at the same corner set fire to surrounding grass. The petrol-fuelled sister car of Luc Alphand also failed to reach the finish (transmission). Portugal'sFilipe Campos (BMW/BFGoodrich) joined Al-Attiyah and Roma on the podium.
