Race side, the course, although marked by numerous military forts, demanded a high level of concentration and all the driver's attention to navigation.

Revengeful after an initial slow stage that left him in an unsatisfying 4th place, Cyril Despres had no hesitations. To justify his lack of success in the first stage, the Franco-Andorran had complained about too much dust. No outside element disturbed his superiority over today's single loop over tricky and technical terrain. First at every passage control, he flew past the finish line, in pole position.

Only Juan Barreda, unfortunate the previous day, managed to keep pace. Despres finally beat Marc Coma by 2'25'' and, the winner of the first stage : Jordi Viladoms, by more than 5 minutes.

Olivier Pain, on 450cc, confirms his talent. Fast, strong in technical areas, the young Yamaha rider is a serious contender for the podium. On the general classification the young Frenchman at 4'35'' from Viladoms has established himself as the only driver able to challenge the supremacy of the KTM Rally. Marc Coma at 28 seconds, and Cyril Despres at 2'37'', are not letting go easily.

The car category sees a new duel between the two BMXW-X-Raid ,but victory goes to the Peterhansel-Cottret team. The Russian, Leonid Novitsky and his navigator Andreas Schulz lagging behind at 6'27'', and more than 15' overall. Confirming their Sunday performance and making the most of Nissan's gear box problems (Joost. Cauwenberg), Jean-Noël Julien and Christophe Crespo hoist their Proto Renault Megane onto the third step of the podium.

Quad bikes: Vincent Albira and Lionel Laine have less than 4 minutes between them. Trucks: world champion Elisabete Jacinto on Man, confirms her title by beating the Czech Tomas Tomecek, Sunday's winner.

Enduro Cup: Alain Tapin leads, Dmitry Pavlov follows
